Planning tool
CCTV coverage planner
Upload a floor plan (PDF or image), set its scale, draw the walls and place cameras. Each camera shows its real footprint at face height and the detail it delivers at every distance.
Method
How the planner works out coverage
Field of view from the optics
The horizontal field of view comes from the lens focal length and the sensor's active width, or straight from the camera datasheet. The vertical field follows from the 16:9 image.
The real footprint, not a flat wedge
Every point on the edge of the image is projected onto a horizontal plane at the height you measure at, using the mounting height and tilt. That gives the blind zone under the camera and the widening trapezoid it actually sees.
Walls block the view
Coverage along each line of sight stops at the first wall drawn on the plan.
Detail by pixel density
Detail is measured in pixels per metre across the target, against the IEC EN 62676-4 levels. Density uses the straight-line distance from the lens, which is conservative toward the edges of the image.
- Identify: 250 px/m
- Recognise: 125 px/m
- Observe: 63 px/m
- Detect: 25 px/m
What a survey still checks
Lens distortion, low light and IR range, backlight and glare, ceiling obstructions and anything not drawn on the plan. Treat the result as a planning estimate, not a guarantee of image quality.
Your plan is saved in this browser only. Nothing is uploaded to KINNEX unless you choose to send it to us.
