A smart campus checklist for schools and colleges
KINNEX Team6 min read
Technology in education works when it supports teaching and keeps students safe. A campus can be planned in layers.
Teaching spaces
Interactive panels or projectors, teacher podiums, clear classroom audio, document cameras and wireless sharing. Labs for computing, languages, science and robotics with standard software images.
Network and Wi-Fi
A campus fibre backbone, Wi-Fi designed for classrooms and hostels, content filtering, separate networks for students, staff and guests, and enough internet capacity for lessons and exams.
Software
A learning management system, a school or college ERP for admissions, timetable, exams and results, fee collection with online payment, and a parent app.
Attendance and communication
Biometric, RFID or face-based attendance with SMS or app alerts to parents. Notices, circulars and emergency messages in one place.
Library and resources
RFID tagging for the library, a digital catalogue and e-resources.
Transport
GPS tracking of buses with parent views and safe-boarding alerts.
Safety and security
CCTV at gates, corridors and playgrounds, access control for sensitive rooms, visitor management, public address, bells and emergency alerts.
Data and privacy
Student and parent data deserves careful handling: role-based access, backups and a clear retention policy under India’s data protection rules.
Start where it counts
Choose one pilot block, learn from teachers, then roll out. Training matters as much as hardware.
